Anti-San antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target San is a known alias name of the protein N-alpha-acetyltransferase 50, NatE catalytic subunit, encoded by the NAA50 gene in humans. This 169-amino acid residue protein is a reported N-alpha-acetyltransferase that acetylates the N-terminus of proteins that retain their initiating methionine. It is localized to the nucleus and cytoplasm of the cell. It is reported to be widely expressed in many tissue types.
