Anti-SPAT antibodies are protein reagents that detect specific antigens. The SPAT antigen is another term for the human protein alanine--glyoxylate aminotransferase, encoded by the AGXT gene. The protein is reported to be a peroxisomal aminotransferase that catalyzes the transamination of glyoxylate to glycine and contributes to the glyoxylate detoxification. Canonically, it has an amino acid length of 392 residues and a mass of 43 kilodaltons. Its subcellular localization is in the peroxisomes and it is notably expressed in the liver. The SPAT protein is a member of the Class-V pyridoxal-phosphate-dependent aminotransferase protein family. Other alias names for SPAT include AGT, AGT1, and AGXT1. ELISA is the most common application for the SPAT antibodies listed below. Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
