Anti-SMC antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target SMC is a known alias name of the protein dymeclin, encoded by the DYM gene in humans. This 669-amino acid residue protein is known to be involved in bone development and Golgi organization, among other biological processes. It is localized to the Golgi and cytoplasm of the cell and features myristoylated post-translational modifications. In terms of tissue expression, it is reported to be expressed in most embryo-fetal and adult tissues. The term DMC is another synonym for SMC. Indicated applications for SMC antibodies listed below include ELISA, Western Blot, and Immunohistochemistry.
