Anti-RCAL antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target RCAL is a known alias name of the protein reticulocalbin 1, encoded by the RCN1 gene in humans. This 331-amino acid residue protein is believed to regulate calcium-dependent activities in the endoplasmic reticulum lumen or post-ER compartment. It is localized to the ER of the cell and features O-glycosylated post-translational modifications. It is reported to be widely expressed in many tissue types. Other synonyms for RCAL include HEL-S-84 and PIG20.
