Anti-remp antibodies enable researchers to detect and measure the remp antigen in biological samples. This target is a reported synonym of the SLC16A8 gene, which encodes solute carrier family 16 member 8. This protein is a suspected retinal pigment epithelium (RPE)-specific proton-coupled L-lactate transporter (By similarity). The human version of remp has a canonical amino acid length of 504 residues and a protein mass of 52.3 kilodaltons. It is reported to be localized in the cell membrane of cells and notably expressed in the retina. Other names for this target antigen include MCT3 and monocarboxylate transporter 3.
