Anti-PLP/DM20 antibodies enable researchers to detect and measure the PLP/DM20 antigen in biological samples. This target is a reported synonym of the PLP1 gene, which encodes proteolipid protein 1. This protein is known to function in neuronal development and chemical synaptic transmission, among other biological roles. The human version of PLP/DM20 has a canonical amino acid length of 277 residues and a protein mass of 30.1 kilodaltons, although 2 isoforms have been identified. It is reported to be localized in the cell membrane of cells and notably expressed in the kidney, cerebral cortex, and cerebellum. Other names for this target antigen include GPM6C, HLD1, and MMPL.
