Anti-HEG antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target HEG is a known alias name of the protein heart development protein with EGF like domains 1, encoded by the HEG1 gene in humans. This 1381-amino acid residue protein is a known receptor component of the CCM signaling pathway which is a crucial regulator of heart and vessel formation and integrity. It is localized to the cell membrane and is secreted of the cell and features glycosylated post-translational modifications. It is reported to be expressed in many tissues, such as the prostate and testis.
