Anti-PIT-2 antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target PIT-2 is a known alias name of the protein solute carrier family 20 member 2, encoded by the SLC20A2 gene in humans. This 652-amino acid residue protein is reported to be a sodium-phosphate symporter, which seems to play a fundamental housekeeping role in phosphate transport by absorbing phosphate from interstitial fluid for normal cellular functions such as cellular metabolism, signal transduction, and nucleic acid and lipid synthesis. It is localized to the cell membrane of the cell and features glycosylated post-translational modifications. In terms of tissue expression, it is ubiquitously expressed across many tissue types.
