Anti-PFD5 antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target PFD5 is a known alias name of the protein prefoldin subunit 5, encoded by the PFDN5 gene in humans. This 154-amino acid residue protein is known to bind specifically to cytosolic chaperonin (c-CPN) and transfers target proteins to it. It is localized to the nucleus and cytoplasm of the cell. In terms of tissue expression, it is reported to be highly expressed in the pancreas and skeletal muscle and moderately in other tissues. Other synonyms for PFD5 include MM-1 and MM1.
