Anti-MGM1 antibodies are protein reagents that detect specific antigens. The MGM1 antigen is another term for the human protein OPA1 mitochondrial dynamin like GTPase, encoded by the OPA1 gene. The protein is reported to be a Dynamin-related GTPase that is essential for normal mitochondrial morphology by regulating the equilibrium between mitochondrial fusion and mitochondrial fission. Canonically, it has an amino acid length of 960 residues and a mass of 111.6 kilodaltons. Its subcellular localization is in the mitochondria and it is reported to be highly expressed in retina. The MGM1 protein is a member of the Dynamin/Fzo/YdjA protein family. Other alias names for MGM1 include BERHS and MTDPS14.
