Anti-iPABP antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target iPABP is a known alias name of the protein poly(A) binding protein cytoplasmic 4, encoded by the PABPC4 gene in humans. This 644-amino acid residue protein is known to bind the poly(A) tail of mRNA. It is localized to the cytoplasm of the cell and features methylated post-translational modifications. In terms of tissue expression, it is reported to be expressed at low levels in resting normal T cells; following T-cell activation, however, mRNA levels are rapidly up-regulated. Other synonyms for iPABP include APP-1, APP1, and PABP4.
