Anti-DmK antibodies enable researchers to detect and measure the DmK antigen in biological samples. This target is a reported synonym of the DMPK gene, which encodes DM1 protein kinase. This protein is known to function in the regulation of intracellular calcium and peptidyl-serine phosphorylation, among other biological roles. The human version of DmK has a canonical amino acid length of 629 residues and a protein mass of 69.4 kilodaltons, although 12 isoforms have been identified. It is reported to be localized in the cell membrane, nucleus, mitochondria, ER, and cytoplasm of cells and notably expressed in the skeletal muscle, heart muscle, endometrium, cerebral cortex, and cerebellum.
