Anti-CONTRIN antibodies enable researchers to detect and measure the CONTRIN antigen in biological samples. This target is a reported synonym of the YBX2 gene, which encodes Y-box binding protein 2. This protein is known to function in the regulation of gene expression and spermatogenesis, among other biological roles. The human version of CONTRIN has a canonical amino acid length of 364 residues and a protein mass of 38.5 kilodaltons. It is reported to be localized in the nucleus and cytoplasm of cells and notably expressed in the testis. Other names for this target antigen include CSDA3 and DBPC.
