Anti-CLEC8A antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target CLEC8A is a known alias name of the protein oxidized low density lipoprotein receptor 1, encoded by the OLR1 gene in humans. This 273-amino acid residue protein is a known receptor that mediates the recognition, internalization and degradation of oxidatively modified low density lipoprotein (oxLDL) by vascular endothelial cells. It is localized to the cell membrane and is secreted of the cell and features N-glycosylated post-translational modifications. In terms of tissue expression, it is notably expressed at high level in endothelial cells and vascular-rich organs such as placenta, lung, liver and brain, aortic intima, bone marrow, spinal cord and substantia nigra. The term LOX1 is another synonym for CLEC8A. Western Blot is the most common application for the CLEC8A antibodies listed below. ELISA and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
