KMT7, or SET domain containing (lysine methyltransferase) 7, is a human gene encoded by SETD7. It may also be known as: Histone-lysine N-methyltransferase SETD7; H3-K4-HMTase SETD7; Lysine N-methyltransferase 7; SET domain-containing protein 7; SET7/9; Histone H3-K4 methyltransferase SETD7; Histone-lysine N-methyltransferase SETD7 ; SET9. The encoded protein is an enzyme with an amino acid length of 366 and a mass of 40.7 kDa. Other isoforms may exist. KMT7 is a member of the Class V-like SAM-binding methyltransferase superfamily, Histone-lysine methyltransferase family, SET7 subfamily. Homologs of this gene exist in other organisms, including: Mouse, Rat, Zebrafish, Frog, Chicken.
