Anti-HP4 antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target HP4 is a known alias name of the protein defensin alpha 4, encoded by the DEFA4 gene in humans. This 97-amino acid residue protein is reported to be a host-defense peptide that has antimicrobial activity against Gram-negative bacteria, and to a lesser extent also against Gram-positive bacteria and fungi. It is localized to the cytoplasmic vesicles and is secreted of the cell. In terms of tissue expression, it is reported to be expressed in neutrophils. Other synonyms for HP4 include DEF4, HNP-4, and HP-4. Indicated applications for HP4 antibodies listed below include ELISA, Flow Cytometry, Western Blot, Immunocytochemistry, and Immunohistochemistry.
