Anti-KBL antibodies enable researchers to detect and measure the KBL antigen in biological samples. This target is a reported synonym of the GCAT gene, which encodes glycine C-acetyltransferase. This protein is known to function in metabolic processes, among other biological roles. The human version of KBL has a canonical amino acid length of 419 residues and a protein mass of 45.3 kilodaltons, although 2 isoforms have been identified. It is reported to be localized in the nucleus and mitochondria of cells and widely expressed in many tissue types. KBL is a member of the Class-II pyridoxal-phosphate-dependent aminotransferase protein family. ELISA and Western Blot are common applications for KBL antibodies.
