Anti-GALR2 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein galanin receptor 2. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 387 amino acid residues and a mass of 41.7 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the cell membrane. It is noted to be expressed abundantly within the central nervous system in both hypothalamus and hippocampus. A member of a the G-protein coupled receptor 1 protein family, GALR2 is a known receptor for the hormone galanin and GALP.
