Anti-CP49 antibodies enable researchers to detect and measure the CP49 antigen in biological samples. This target is a reported synonym of the BFSP2 gene, which encodes beaded filament structural protein 2. This protein is known to be required for the correct formation of lens intermediate filaments as part of a complex composed of BFSP1, BFSP2 and CRYAA. The human version of CP49 has a canonical amino acid length of 415 residues and a protein mass of 45.9 kilodaltons. It is reported to be localized in the cell membrane and cytoplasm of cells and notably expressed in the eye. Other names for this target antigen include CP47 and CTRCT12.
