Anti-cob antibodies enable researchers to detect and measure the cob antigen in biological samples. This target is a reported synonym of the MMAB gene, which encodes metabolism of cobalamin associated B. This protein is known to function in metabolic processes, among other biological roles. The human version of cob has a canonical amino acid length of 250 residues and a protein mass of 27.4 kilodaltons. It is reported to be localized in the mitochondria of cells and widely expressed in many tissue types. cob is a member of the Cob(I)alamin adenosyltransferase protein family. ELISA and Western Blot are common applications for cob antibodies.
