Anti-BPIFB4 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein BPI fold containing family B member 4. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 614 amino acid residues and a mass of 65.1 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the cytoplasm and is secreted. Up to 2 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is reported to be expressed in nasal tissue. A member of the BPI/LBP protein family, BPIFB4 is believed to have the capacity to recognize and bind specific classes of odorants. Post-translational modifications have been described, including glycosylation. Synonyms for this target antigen include likely ortholog of rat probable ligand-binding protein RY2G5, long palate, lung and nasal epithelium carcinoma associated 4, long palate, lung and nasal epithelium carcinoma-associated protein 4, and ligand-binding protein RY2G5. BPIFB4 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine and chimpanzee species. Some BPIFB4 antibodies may have been used in research and have associated citations. Immunofluorescence is a widely used application for these antibodies. Western Blot and Immunocytochemistry are also common applications.
