Anti-APL1 antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target APL1 is a known alias name of the protein acireductone dioxygenase 1, encoded by the ADI1 gene in humans. This 179-amino acid residue protein is known to catalyze 2 different reactions between oxygen and the acireductone 1,2-dihydroxy-3-keto-5-methylthiopentene (DHK-MTPene) depending upon the metal bound in the active site (By similarity). It is localized to the cell membrane, nucleus, and cytoplasm of the cell. In terms of tissue expression, it is notably expressed in fetal colon, lung, stomach, brain, spleen, liver, skeletal muscle and kidney. The term ARD is another synonym for APL1. A number of APL1 antibodies have been mentioned in research publications and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. ELISA and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
