Anti-AMD antibodies enable researchers to detect and measure the AMD antigen in biological samples. This target is a reported synonym of the AMD1 gene, which encodes adenosylmethionine decarboxylase 1. This protein is known to function in metabolic processes, among other biological roles. The human version of AMD has a canonical amino acid length of 334 residues and a protein mass of 38.3 kilodaltons, although 2 isoforms have been identified. It is reported to be notably expressed in many tissues, such as the caudate, thyroid gland, and adrenal gland. AMD is a member of the Eukaryotic AdoMetDC protein family.
