ALCAT1, or Lysocardiolipin acyltransferase 1, is a human gene encoded by LCLAT1. It may also be known as: 1-acylglycerol-3-phosphate O-acyltransferase 8; 1-AGP acyltransferase 8; 1-AGPAT 8; Acyl-CoA:lysocardiolipin acyltransferase 1; Lysocardiolipin acyltransferase 1 ; 1AGPAT8; AGPAT8; HSRG1849; LYCAT; UNQ1849. The encoded protein is an enzyme with an amino acid length of 414 and a mass of 48.9 kDa. Other isoforms may exist. ALCAT1 is a member of the 1-acyl-sn-glycerol-3-phosphate acyltransferase family. Homologs of this gene exist in other organisms, including: Mouse, Rat, Zebrafish, Frog, Chicken.
