Anti-MaxiK antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target MaxiK is a known alias name of the protein potassium calcium-activated channel subfamily M alpha 1, encoded by the KCNMA1 gene in humans. This 1236-amino acid residue protein is known to be involved in the regulation of apoptosis and the transport of ions, among other biological processes. It is localized to the cell membrane of the cell and features palmitoylated and phosphorylated post-translational modifications. In terms of tissue expression, it is widely expressed across many tissue types. Other synonyms for MaxiK include BKTM, CADEDS, and IEG16. Indicated applications for MaxiK antibodies listed below include ELISA, Western Blot, and Immunohistochemistry.
