Anti-STXBP5 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein syntaxin binding protein 5. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 1151 amino acid residues and a mass of 127.6 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the cell membrane, cytoplasmic vesicles, and cytoplasm. Up to 3 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is notably widely expressed in many tissue types. A member of the WD repeat L(2)GL protein family, STXBP5 is reported to play a regulatory role in calcium-dependent exocytosis and neurotransmitter release. Synonyms for this target antigen include putative protein product of Nbla04300, tomosyn, tomosyn-1, and lethal(2) giant larvae protein homolog 3. STXBP5 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, chimpanzee and chicken species. A number of STXBP5 antibodies have been mentioned in research publications and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. In addition, ELISA is also a common application.
