Anti-IA6 antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target IA6 is a known alias name of the protein INSM transcriptional repressor 2, encoded by the INSM2 gene in humans. This 566-amino acid residue protein is believed to function as a a growth suppressor or tumor suppressor in liver cells and in certain neurons. It is localized to the nucleus and cytoplasm of the cell. In terms of tissue expression, it is found to be expressed in the heart, liver, skeletal muscle, kidney and pancreas, and, to a lesser extent, in the brain, lung and spleen.
