Anti-GAL1 antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target GAL1 is a known alias name of the protein galectin 1, encoded by the LGALS1 gene in humans. This 135-amino acid residue protein is a reported lectin that binds beta-galactoside and a wide array of complex carbohydrates. It is localized to the extracellular matrix, cytoplasm, and is secreted of the cell. In terms of tissue expression, it is reported to be expressed in the placenta, maternal decidua and fetal membranes. The term GBP is another synonym for GAL1. Western Blot is the most common application for the GAL1 antibodies listed below. ELISA and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
