Anti-ALDM antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target ALDM is a known alias name of the protein aldehyde dehydrogenase 2 family member, encoded by the ALDH2 gene in humans. This 517-amino acid residue protein is known to be required for clearance of cellular formaldehyde, a cytotoxic and carcinogenic metabolite that induces DNA damage. It is localized to the mitochondria of the cell. It is reported to be expressed in many tissues, such as the adrenal gland and kidney. Other synonyms for ALDM include ALDH-E2 and ALDHI.
