Anti-AE4 antibodies detect the protein encoded by the gene SLC4A9, or 'solute carrier family 4 member 9' in humans. The 983-amino acid protein is a member of the Anion exchanger (TC 2.A.31) family. The cellular localization is predicted to be membrane-associated. Glycosylation sites have been reported.
