Anti-RAO antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target RAO is a known alias name of the protein amine oxidase copper containing 2, encoded by the AOC2 gene in humans. This 756-amino acid residue protein is known to have a monoamine oxidase activity with substrate specificity for 2-phenylethylamine and tryptamine. It is localized to the cell membrane of the cell and features glycosylated post-translational modifications. In terms of tissue expression, it is reported to be expressed in many tissues with much higher expression in retina. Other synonyms for RAO include DAO2 and SSAO.
