Anti-NEK1 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein NIMA related kinase 1. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 1258 amino acid residues and a mass of 142.8 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the nucleus and cytoplasm. Up to 6 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is notably widely expressed in many tissue types. A member of the NEK Ser/Thr protein kinase protein family, NEK1 is known to be involved with the cell cycle. The NEK1 gene has been associated with the disease, Short-rib thoracic dysplasia 6 with or without polydactyly. Synonyms for this target antigen include NY-REN-55, SRPS2, SRPS2A, SRTD6, serine/threonine-protein kinase Nek1, and ALS24. NEK1 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species. A number of NEK1 antibodies have been mentioned in research publications and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. Immunofluorescence and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
