Anti-ARL4A antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein ADP ribosylation factor like GTPase 4A. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 200 amino acid residues and a mass of 22.6 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the cell membrane, nucleus, and cytoplasm. A member of the Arf protein family, ARL4A is reported to be a small GTP-binding protein which cycles between an inactive GDP-bound and an active GTP-bound form, and the rate of cycling is regulated by guanine nucleotide exchange factors (GEF) and GTPase-activating proteins (GAP). Post-translational modifications have been described, including myristoylation. Synonyms for this target antigen include ARL4 and ADP-ribosylation factor-like protein 4A. ARL4A gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species. Some ARL4A antibodies may have been used in research and have associated citations.
