Anti-GATA binding protein 2 antibodies are directed against the protein encoded by the gene GATA2 in humans. The gene may also be known as DCML, IMD21, MONOMAC, NFE1B, and endothelial transcription factor GATA-2. Structurally, the protein is reported to be 50.5 kilodaltons in mass. The GATA2 marker can be used to identify Eosinophils, Basophils, Early Megakaryocytes (MK), Megakaryocytes-Erythroid-Mast Cells Progenitors (MEMP), and Common Myeloid Progenitors (CMP).* Based on gene name, plant, canine, porcine, monkey, mouse and rat orthologs may also be found.
