Anti-SAMC antibodies enable researchers to detect and measure the SAMC antigen in biological samples. This target is a reported synonym of the SLC25A26 gene, which encodes solute carrier family 25 member 26. This protein is known to function in the transport of ions, among other biological roles. The human version of SAMC has a canonical amino acid length of 274 residues and a protein mass of 29.4 kilodaltons, although 3 isoforms have been identified. It is reported to be localized in the mitochondria of cells and widely expressed in many tissue types. SAMC is a member of the Mitochondrial carrier (TC 2.A.29) protein family.
