Anti-SMS1 antibodies enable researchers to detect and measure the SMS1 antigen in biological samples. This target is a reported synonym of the SGMS1 gene, which encodes sphingomyelin synthase 1. This protein is known to function in the apoptotic pathway and protein phosphorylation, among other biological roles. The human version of SMS1 has a canonical amino acid length of 413 residues and a protein mass of 48.6 kilodaltons, although 2 isoforms have been identified. It is reported to be localized in the Golgi of cells and widely expressed in many tissue types. SMS1 is a member of the Sphingomyelin synthase protein family. Indicated applications for SMS1 antibodies listed below include ELISA, Western Blot, and Immunohistochemistry.
