Anti-MMP22 antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target MMP22 is a known alias name of the protein matrix metallopeptidase 23B, encoded by the MMP23B gene in humans. This 390-amino acid residue protein is known to be involved in extracellular matrix organization and proteolysis, among other biological processes. It is localized to the ER of the cell and features N-glycosylated and cleaved post-translational modifications. In terms of tissue expression, it is reported to be highly expressed in the ovary, testis and prostate. Other synonyms for MMP22 include MIFR and MIFR-1.
