Anti-HPC2 antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target HPC2 is a known alias name of the protein elaC ribonuclease Z 2, encoded by the ELAC2 gene in humans. This 826-amino acid residue protein is reported to be a zinc phosphodiesterase, which displays mitochondrial tRNA 3'-processing endonuclease activity. It is localized to the nucleus and mitochondria of the cell. In terms of tissue expression, it is widely expressed across many tissue types.
