Anti-Mec1 antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target Mec1 is a known alias name of the protein ATR serine/threonine kinase, encoded by the ATR gene in humans. This 2644-amino acid residue protein is a serine/threonine protein kinase which activates checkpoint signaling upon genotoxic stresses such as ionizing radiation (IR), ultraviolet light (UV), or DNA replication stalling, thereby acting as a DNA damage sensor. It is localized to the nucleus of the cell and features phosphorylated post-translational modifications. In terms of tissue expression, it is found to be widely expressed, with highest expression in testis. Other synonyms for Mec1 include FCTCS and FRP1. Western Blot is a widely used application for the Mec1 antibodies listed below. In addition, ELISA is also a common application.
