Anti-VEGF-A antibodies are protein reagents that detect specific antigens. The VEGF-A antigen is another term for the human protein vascular endothelial growth factor A, encoded by the VEGFA gene. The protein is known to function in angiogenesis and the cellular response to hypoxia, among other biological roles. Canonically, it has an amino acid length of 232 residues and a mass of 27 kilodaltons. It is a secreted protein and it is widely expressed in many tissue types. The VEGF-A protein is a member of the PDGF/VEGF growth factor protein family. Other alias names for VEGF-A include MVCD1, VEGF, and VPF. A number of VEGF-A antibodies have been mentioned in research publications and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. ELISA and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
