Anti-PEX16 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein peroxisomal biogenesis factor 16. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 336 amino acid residues and a mass of 38.6 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the peroxisomes. Up to 2 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is notably widely expressed in many tissue types. A member of the Peroxin-16 protein family, PEX16 is known to be required for peroxisome membrane biogenesis. The PEX16 gene has been associated with the disease, Peroxisome biogenesis disorder. Synonyms for this target antigen include PBD8B, peroxin 16, peroxisomal membrane protein PEX16, peroxisome biogenesis factor 16, and PBD8A. PEX16 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species. A number of PEX16 antibodies have been mentioned in research publications and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. ELISA and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
