Anti-hemoglobin, delta antibodies enable researchers to detect and measure the hemoglobin, delta antigen in biological samples. This target is a reported synonym of the HBD gene, which encodes hemoglobin subunit delta. This protein is known to be involved in oxygen transport from the lung to the various peripheral tissues. The human version of hemoglobin, delta has a canonical amino acid length of 147 residues and a protein mass of 16.1 kilodaltons. It is reported to be notably expressed in soft tissue, placenta, and bone marrow. Other names for this target antigen include delta globin, delta-globin chain, and hemoglobin delta chain.
