Anti-GC1 antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target GC1 is a known alias name of the protein superoxide dismutase 2, encoded by the SOD2 gene in humans. This 222-amino acid residue protein is known to be involved in pathways of aging and the response to oxidative stress, among other biological processes. It is localized to the mitochondria of the cell and features ubiquitinated and acetylated post-translational modifications. It is reported to be widely expressed in many tissue types. Indicated applications for GC1 antibodies listed below include ELISA, Western Blot, Immunocytochemistry, and Immunohistochemistry.
