Anti-DSC3 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein desmocollin 3. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 896 amino acid residues and a mass of 100 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the cell membrane. Up to 2 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is notably expressed in the vagina, testis, skin, oral mucosa, and esophagus. DSC3 is known to be a component of intercellular desmosome junctions. Post-translational modifications have been described, including glycosylation. The DSC3 gene has been associated with the disease, Hypotrichosis and recurrent skin vesicles. Synonyms for this target antigen include DSC, DSC1, DSC2, DSC4, HT-CP, cadherin family member 3, desmocollin-4, and CDHF3. DSC3 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine and chimpanzee species. A number of DSC3 antibodies have been mentioned in research publications and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. ELISA and Immunofluorescence are also common applications.
