Anti-BST1 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein bone marrow stromal cell antigen 1. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 318 amino acid residues and a mass of 35.7 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the cell membrane. Up to 2 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is reported to be expressed in various tissues including placenta, lung, liver and kidney. A member of the ADP-ribosyl cyclase protein family, BST1 is known to catalyze both the synthesis of cyclic ADP-beta-D-ribose (cADPR) from NAD(+), and its hydrolysis to ADP-D-ribose (ADPR). Post-translational modifications have been described, including glycosylation.
The BST1 marker can be used to identify Fibroblastic Reticular Cells (FRC).* Synonyms for this target antigen include cADPR2, ADP-ribosyl cyclase/cyclic ADP-ribose hydrolase 2, ADP-ribosyl cyclase 2, NAD(+) nucleosidase, bone marrow stromal antigen 1, and CD157. BST1 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine and chimpanzee species.
