THIO, or Acetyl-CoA acyltransferase 1, is a human gene encoded by ACAA1. It may also be known as: 3-ketoacyl-CoA thiolase, peroxisomal; Peroxisomal 3-oxoacyl-CoA thiolase; 3-ketoacyl-CoA thiolase, peroxisomal ; peroxisomal 3-oxoacyl-Coenzyme A thiolase; ACAA; PTHIO. The encoded protein is an enzyme with an amino acid length of 424 and a mass of 44.3 kDa. Other isoforms may exist. THIO is a member of the Thiolase family. Homologs of this gene exist in other organisms, including: Mouse, Rat, Zebrafish, Frog, Chicken.
