Anti-18S rRNA antibodies detect the protein encoded by the gene EMG1, or 'EMG1 N1-specific pseudouridine methyltransferase' in humans. The 244-amino acid protein is a member of the Class IV-like SAM-binding methyltransferase superfamily, RNA methyltransferase NEP1 family. The cellular localization is predicted to be nuclear.
