Anti-KRT74 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein keratin 74. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 529 amino acid residues and a mass of 57.9 kDa. It is reported to be highly expressed in hair follicles from scalp. A member of the Intermediate filament protein family, KRT74 is known to have a role in hair formation. The KRT74 gene has been associated with the disease, Woolly hair autosomal dominant. Synonyms for this target antigen include CK-74, K5C, K74, cytokeratin-74, keratin 5c, keratin 6 irs4, and keratin, type II cytoskeletal 74. KRT74 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine and chimpanzee species. These KRT74 antibodies are widely used in Western Blot experiments, among other applications.
