Anti-COQ5 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein coenzyme Q5, methyltransferase. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 327 amino acid residues and a mass of 37.1 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the mitochondria. It is found to be widely expressed, with highest levels in the liver, lung, placenta and skeletal muscle. It is a member of the MenG/UbiE protein family. The COQ5 gene has been associated with the disease, Coenzyme Q10 deficiency. Synonyms for this target antigen include coenzyme Q5 homolog, methyltransferase, ubiquinone biosynthesis methyltransferase COQ5, mitochondrial, and 2-methoxy-6-polyprenyl-1,4-benzoquinol methylase, mitochondrial. COQ5 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species. A number of Coq5 antibodies have been mentioned in research publications and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. ELISA and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
