Anti-Sbp antibodies enable researchers to detect and measure the Sbp antigen in biological samples. This target is a reported synonym of the SHBG gene, which encodes sex hormone binding globulin. This protein is known to function as a androgen transport protein, but may also be involved in receptor mediated processes. The human version of Sbp has a canonical amino acid length of 402 residues and a protein mass of 43.8 kilodaltons, although 5 isoforms have been identified. It is reported to be a secreted protein.
